New Home? Here’s our House Cleaning List of What to Clean Before you Move In

My husband and I recently bought our first home and we are so excited to grab those keys and move on in! But before we start unpacking, we’re planning to do a good DEEP CLEAN of our new pad. Now don’t get me wrong, the past owners took phenomenal care of the house (even our home inspector was impressed!). However, there’s just something about starting with a fresh, clean slate in a space that makes it well worth any extra effort. Plus, it’s going to be a heck of a lot easier to clean an EMPTY place.

Here’s our new house cleaning list to get our new home looking and smelling good!

#1. The Essentials

Everybody Should Clean These Before Moving In

These are areas you’ll definitely want to clean up right when you move in.

• Kitchen Counters
• Bathrooms, Showers, & Sinks
• Toilets
• Door Knobs
• Microwave
• Oven
• Fridge & Freezer
• Stovetop
• Interior Windows
• Dishwasher
• Washing Machine

#2. Taking it Up a Notch

If you have some extra time and energy (lend us some)

If you don’t have time right away, these tasks can be put off a little bit. But why not take things to the next level and make your new place sparkle?

• Air Vents & Bathroom Fans
• Ceiling Fans
• Inside & Outside of Every cabinet
• Dust on Top of Kitchen Cabinets
• Baseboards
• Behind All Appliances
• Exterior Windows
• Disinfect the Garbage Disposal

#3. Clean is your Middle Name

That deep, deep clean you’ve always wanted to do.

Are you related to Mr. Clean? We think you might as well quit your day job and open a cleaning service if you tackle all of these cleaning tasks.

• Deep Clean Carpets
• Change the Toilet Seats
• De-Scale your Faucets
