The Mover’s Guide to Spring Cleaning: Free Printable Checklist

It’s officially SPRING! And guess what that means? Time to dive head-first into the joys of Spring Cleaning. Hip, hip, hooray? Well, maybe that’s a little generous, but something about spring and a fresh start seem pretty attractive after a loooooong winter of cold. In honor of Spring Cleaning, we put together a series that we are calling:

IMG_5222To kick-off the Mover’s Guide to Spring Cleaning we have put together a checklist of weekly, monthly, & yearly cleaning tasks to stay clean in your new pad (we even made a free printable version). Spring is a time to start fresh, and Spring in a new home is the ultimate way to start clean and more importantly, STAY clean. Following these essentials will help you do just that.

IMG_5213Spring Cleaning 101: Cleaning Schedule

Weekly (in an ideal world of course):

  • Dust
  • Sanitize/Clean Kitchen & Bathroom
  • Wash Floors
  • Sanitize Door Handles
  • Vacuum
  • Polish when necessary/Clean Stainless Steel
  • Laundry
  • Clean the coffee pot
  • Check the Refrigerator for expired food
  • Wash sheets

Monthly:

  • Clean Appliances (more on that coming soon!)
  • Wash Rugs
  • Vacuum furniture
  • Clean garbage disposal
  • Wipe down baseboard
  • Deep Clean the bathroom/kitchen/high traffic areas
  • Switch the furnace filter
  • Wash doors down
  • Sanitize waste basket & garbage cans (inside)
  • Wash sheets and pillows
  • Clean out all drains
  • Wipe/dust ceiling fans & light fixtures
  • Clean/organize car

Annually/Bi-Annually:

  • Wash windows & screens
  • Wash out cabinets (yes, we mean empty the whole thing & get to work)
  • Empty, Wash & organize the Refrigerator and Freezer
  • Sanitize Garbage Cans (outside)
  • Wash drapes, rugs, upholstery (if possible)
  • Clean/organize garage or shed
  • Move Refrigerator and Oven to clean underneath
  • Empty/clean pantry and closets

Although it is nearly impossible to hit every single thing that needs to be emptied, organized, sanitized, wiped, or just plain CLEANED, this guide will help you start fresh in your new place. We would recommend downloading and printing this Spring cleaning list here and modifying it to work for you & your family to ensure your list fits your new home…. perfectly.
