Charity events can take on many forms, from food drives and softball games to silent auctions and rock concerts in the park. Some donation drives are seasonal. Fundraisers can be one-shot deals or continue all year round. And some, like the one going on this month up in New England, have turned into a full-blown, social event.
Humboldt Storage and Moving of Canton, MA is holding their 6th Annual Truck Pull this October 22nd. Teams of 10 people (or fewer if they’re really tough) will put their strength on display as they pull a series of trucks, including a fire engine and a full-size moving van. The goal? Go as fast as they can over a 25-foot course.
From the Canton Citizen,
“This event is a great way to raise much-needed funds for Special Olympics Massachusetts and have a fun day of team building in the process,” said James Sullivan, president of Humboldt Storage and Moving. “The money we raise goes directly to support some very inspirational athletes and the programs they all deserve.”
With traditional Irish food and drink on hand and a Touch-a-Truck event the whole family can enjoy, this may all just seem like fun and games. But with a team entry fee of $1,000, this is one serious fundraiser. Over the event’s first five years Humboldt has raised more than $75,000 for Special Olympics Massachusetts. And it doesn’t look like they’re about to slow down.
Take note, movers. This is yet another example of how reaching out to your community can boost your presence while helping out. It’s a win-win.
